Certain advancements in personalized and preventative healthcare are reliant on high quality datasets. Meanwhile, the wearable and at home testing industries are produces large amounts of data that are being siloed in company databases and on device storage like the Apple Health app. Decentralized networks can effectively curate and govern this data collected from a wide distribution of the population.

Longevity Protocol is a Proof of Physical Work (PoPW) protocol that encourages participant's to share health data to further health research. Its a dual sided marketplace of users that want to share their health data and researchers that want to analyze this data for health research. Together they form a longevity focused community furthering the field and improving their own health in the process. To incentivize supply side participation and community formation we can create high quality health and lifestyle improvement apps similar to Strava, FitnessPal, StepN, and Sleepagotchi among others. For our POC, we are developing an app where anyone can setup and run a Health Challenge that allows people to experiment with proven lifestyle changes and also collects data from participants in exchange for possible token rewards and NFT participation badges. The key innovation here is the data layer that can eventually be written to by a wide variety of end user applications. For example, move-to-earn, sleep-to-earn, and any other health application can integrate with our data layer and not have to think about any data compliance concerns, while at the same time participating in the data marketplace. The data stored in our system can also be made available for on-chain consumption.

The protocol consists of the following elements:

  1. Longevity Token (not necessary)
  2. Health Challenges
  3. Secure Health Data Marketplace
  4. Data sharing rewards
  5. Users
    1. Data Providers
    2. Data Analyzers

Longevity Token

The longevity token allows for participation in governance and can serve as a reward token for data sharing.

Health Challenges

Health challenges are the core incentive mechanism for users to share their data. While, users can also be rewarded for just continuously sharing their data, we want to also incentivize users to take steps to improve their health. These challenges can be setup by researchers or DAO members with instructions on how to participate, explanation of the potential benefits of participating (linking to podcasts/research articles/videos), a data agreement for data to be collected, and a possible reward (NFT badge and/or token reward).

For example:
